This medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially when diet, exercise, and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar levels.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
- Used along with diet and exercise for better blood sugar control
- Sometimes used with other diabetes medicines as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin
- Metformin reduces sugar production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity in muscles
- Together they help lower blood sugar through two different actions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis (a medical emergency)
- Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is specifically required

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash or itching
- Weight changes
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe low blood sugar (confusion, fainting, seizures)
- Signs of lactic acidosis (unusual tiredness, muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain)
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (liver problems)
- Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing)
- Unusual bruising or bleeding

How to Use GLIMY M1 FORTE Tablets (Glimepiride 1mg + Metformin 1000mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or just before a meal
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not skip meals after taking this medicine, as it can cause low blood sugar
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well; do not stop without consulting your doctor
- Keep taking other lifestyle measures like diet control and exercise
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
- If you often forget doses, ask your doctor about setting reminders

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to glimepiride, metformin, or any sulfonylurea medicines
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney or liver disease
- Have a severe infection, injury, or are having major surgery
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised by your doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Have a history of heart disease or heart failure
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Are undergoing any imaging test involving contrast dye
- Have a G6PD deficiency or history of low blood sugar episodes
