This medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet control and physical activity

HOW IT WORKS

• Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin

• Severe low blood sugar with confusion, fainting or seizures

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, signs of liver problems
• Persistent vomiting or severe stomach pain

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with the first bite of a main meal
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Do not skip meals after taking this medicine as it can cause low blood sugar
• Continue diet and exercise plan advised by your doctor
• Do not stop the medicine on your own even if you feel well

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it with your next meal if it is not too close to the next dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

• Are scheduled for any surgery or imaging test using contrast dye
• Are elderly or have digestive disorders
