This medicine is used to treat raised pressure inside the eye, which occurs in conditions like open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high intraocular (eye) pressure
• Managing open-angle glaucoma
• Managing ocular hypertension when a single medicine is not enough

HOW IT WORKS

• Latanoprost increases the outflow of fluid from the eye
• Timolol, a beta-blocker, reduces the production of fluid inside the eye
• Together they lower eye pressure more than either alone
• Benzalkonium chloride is a preservative that keeps the eye drop solution free from contamination

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for eye infections
• Not used for eye redness due to allergy or irritation
• Not used for dry eyes
• Not a treatment for cataract or other structural eye problems
• Not for immediate relief of eye pain or injury

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Eye redness or irritation
• Blurred vision immediately after applying
• Burning or stinging sensation
• Feeling of something in the eye
• Darkening or increased length/thickness of eyelashes
• Gradual darkening of the iris (eye colour), especially in mixed-coloured eyes

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dry eyes
• Watering of eyes
• Eyelid swelling or itching
• Headache
• Slow heart rate

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Chest pain or very slow/irregular heartbeat
• Sudden swelling of face, lips, or throat
• Severe eye pain or sudden vision loss
• Signs of severe allergic reaction like rash and breathlessness

How to Use LATOCOM EYE DROP (Latanoprost 50mcg + Timolol 5mg + Benzalkonium 0.02%)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only in the eye(s) as directed by your doctor
• Wash your hands before using the drops
• Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place one drop inside
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
• Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for about a minute after applying to reduce absorption into the body
• If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between each
• Do not stop using without consulting your doctor, even if you feel fine, as eye pressure can rise silently

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not apply two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store as per the instructions on the pack, usually in a cool place away from direct sunlight
• Some formulations need refrigeration before opening; check the label
• Once opened, most eye drops should be discarded after 4 weeks
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to latanoprost, timolol, benzalkonium, or any other ingredient

• Have severe heart failure that is not well controlled

• Have any heart or breathing condition
• Wear contact lenses (remove them before applying and wait before reinserting)
• Have had eye surgery or eye infections
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have diabetes, as timolol can mask signs of low blood sugar
• Have thyroid problems
