This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure in adults who are not adequately controlled by a single medicine alone.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Reducing the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and heart enlargement
- Sometimes used to protect the kidneys in people with high blood pressure and diabetes
HOW IT WORKS
- Losartan blocks a chemical called angiotensin II that tightens blood vessels, helping them relax and widen
- HCTZ is a diuretic (water pill) that helps the body get rid of excess salt and fluid through urine
- Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for emergency treatment of very high blood pressure crisis
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not used to treat infections
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy

- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling

How to Use LOSTAT H TABLET (LOSARTAN 50MG + HCTZ 12.5MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Try to take it at the same time every day to maintain steady effect
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs continuous treatment
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the tablets in their original pack until use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
