Uses and Benefits of MACORATE CR 600MG TABLET (MAGNESIUM VALPROATE)

Magnesium Valproate is mainly prescribed for the treatment of epilepsy (seizure disorders) and is also used in some cases of bipolar disorder and mood stabilisation.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling and preventing different types of seizures, including generalised and partial seizures
• Long-term prevention of epileptic fits
• Managing manic episodes in bipolar disorder, as advised by a psychiatrist
• Sometimes used for prevention of migraine, as decided by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It increases the levels of a calming brain chemical called GABA
• It reduces abnormal and excessive electrical activity in brain cells
• This helps prevent seizures and stabilises mood

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, even if you feel better, as it may trigger seizures

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
