Carbamazepine 300mg is mainly used to treat epilepsy (seizures), a specific type of facial nerve pain called trigeminal neuralgia, and certain mood disorders.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Control of various types of seizures in epilepsy
- Treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (severe facial nerve pain)
- Prevention of mood episodes in bipolar disorder, when prescribed by a psychiatrist
- Sometimes used for certain types of nerve pain conditions
HOW IT WORKS
- It stabilises overactive nerve cells in the brain by blocking sodium channels
- This reduces abnormal electrical signals that cause seizures or pain

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
- Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady levels in the body
- Do not stop suddenly, even if you feel better, as this can trigger seizures
- Regular blood tests may be advised to monitor levels and organ function
