Tirzepatide 5mg is prescribed for adults with type 2 diabetes to help control blood sugar levels, and in some cases for chronic weight management in overweight or obese adults.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To improve blood sugar (glucose) control in type 2 diabetes, along with diet and exercise
- To support long-term weight management in adults with obesity or excess weight, alongside lifestyle changes
- Sometimes used together with other diabetes medicines as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts on GIP and GLP-1 receptors, hormones involved in blood sugar and appetite regulation
- It helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high
- It slows down stomach emptying and reduces appetite, helping with weight control
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
- Not a substitute for insulin in people who need insulin therapy

- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (possible liver or gallbladder problem)
- Severe or persistent vomiting leading to dehydration
- Sudden vision changes

How to Use MOUNJARO 5MG KWIKPEN (Tirzepatide 5mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Inject under the skin (subcutaneous) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, as prescribed by your doctor
- Usually given once a week, on the same day each week
- Can be taken with or without food
- Rotate injection sites to avoid skin problems
- Do not inject into a vein or muscle
- Follow the injection technique shown by your doctor or pharmacist
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, if it has been less than a few days since the missed dose, as guided by your doctor
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
- Do not take two doses close together to make up for a missed one
- Contact your doctor if you are unsure what to do
STORAGE
- Store in a refrigerator, away from direct light
- Do not freeze; discard if it has been frozen
- Once in use, may be kept as per the pack instructions at room temperature for a limited time
- Keep out of reach of children
- Check the pen or vial for particles or discolouration before use

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to tirzepatide or any ingredient in the injection
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
- Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy, unless advised by your doctor
