Uses and Benefits of SICRIPTIN 1.25 MG TABLET (BROMOCRIPTINE 1.25MG)
Bromocriptine is commonly prescribed to treat conditions related to excess prolactin hormone and certain movement or hormonal disorders.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To treat high prolactin levels in blood (hyperprolactinemia)
- To manage prolactin-secreting pituitary tumours
- To help with infertility caused by high prolactin levels
- To help stop breast milk production when medically needed
- As an add-on treatment in Parkinson's disease
- To manage acromegaly along with other treatments, as advised by doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts on dopamine receptors in the brain
- This action reduces the release of prolactin hormone from the pituitary gland
- In Parkinson's disease, it helps improve movement symptoms by stimulating dopamine activity
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller
- It is not used for routine hormonal imbalance without medical evaluation
- It should not be used for weight loss or general fatigue
- It is not a substitute for insulin or diabetes medicines

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Take with food to reduce stomach upset
- Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
- It may take some time before you notice the full effect
- Avoid alcohol while on this medicine unless your doctor says it is safe
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one
- If you miss doses often, tell your doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to bromocriptine or other ergot-derived medicines

- Have a history of heart valve problems
- Have severe liver disease
- Have toxaemia of pregnancy or pregnancy-induced high blood pressure
