Uses and Benefits of NOVASTAT 20MG TABLET (ROSUVASTATIN 20MG)

Rosuvastatin 20mg is prescribed to manage high cholesterol levels and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high LDL (bad) cholesterol and total cholesterol
• Lowering high triglyceride levels
• Raising HDL (good) cholesterol
• Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart problems in people with risk factors
• Managing cholesterol in people with certain inherited cholesterol disorders

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase in the liver that is needed to make cholesterol
• Reduces the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver
• Increases the liver's ability to remove LDL cholesterol already in the blood

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat chest pain during an attack
• It is not used to treat infections
• It does not replace a healthy diet, exercise, or other heart medicines your doctor has prescribed
• It is not a one-time fix; stopping suddenly does not maintain cholesterol control

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness (possible liver problem)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash
• Severe stomach pain
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Try to take it at the same time each day to build a routine
• Continue taking it even if you feel well, as cholesterol control needs regular use
• Do not stop without consulting your doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other statin
• Have active liver disease
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Are taking cyclosporine (unless specifically advised by your doctor)

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney disease
• Have a history of liver problems
