Ofloxacin 400mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Urinary tract infections
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Infections of the prostate
- Certain sexually transmitted infections
- Infections of the gut and abdomen when prescribed
HOW IT WORKS
- Ofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones
- It blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA
- This stops bacteria from multiplying and eventually kills them
- It works only against bacteria, not viruses
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat viral infections like common cold or flu
- It is not a painkiller or fever reducer
- It should not be used for infections not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial

How to Use OFLOX 400MG TABLET (OFLOXACIN 400MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- It can be taken with or without food, but taking it consistently the same way each day is helpful
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- Avoid taking it with dairy products, antacids, or mineral supplements at the same time, as they can reduce absorption; leave a gap of a few hours
- Drink plenty of water while on this medicine
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have heart rhythm problems or are on medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Have myasthenia gravis
- Have diabetes
- Are elderly, as risk of tendon problems is higher

- Antacids, iron, zinc or calcium supplements
- Blood thinners such as warfarin
- NSAIDs like ibuprofen (may increase risk of seizures)
- Medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Oral diabetes medicines or insulin
- Theophylline
- Corticosteroids (increase tendon rupture risk)
