Cefpodoxime is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to this medicine.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia
- Ear, nose and throat infections like tonsillitis and sinusitis
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Uncomplicated gonorrhea in some cases
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins
- It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
- Without this wall, the bacteria cannot survive and die off
- This helps clear the infection and reduce symptoms like fever and pain
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not work against viral infections such as flu or common cold
- It is not used for fungal infections
- It should not be used to self-treat symptoms without a doctor's advice
- It is not a painkiller or fever reducer on its own

How to Use OPOX CV 50MG TABLET (CEFPODOXIME 50MG)
Take this medicine exactly as advised by your doctor for the full course, even if you feel better before it is finished.
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
- Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
- Take it at the same time each day to maintain steady levels in the body
- Do not stop the course early even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor tells you to
- Complete the full prescribed duration to prevent the infection from coming back or bacteria becoming resistant
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

- Antacids and acid-reducing medicines, which can lower absorption of cefpodoxime
- Probenecid, which can increase levels of cefpodoxime in the body
- Blood thinners like warfarin, as effects may be altered
- Other medicines affecting kidney function
