Pioglitazone 15mg is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
• Used alone or along with other diabetes medicines like metformin or sulfonylureas
• Used as part of an overall diabetes management plan including diet and exercise

HOW IT WORKS

• It belongs to a class called thiazolidinediones
• It makes the body's cells more sensitive to insulin
• This helps muscle and fat cells use glucose better and reduces glucose production by the liver
• It does not increase insulin production by the pancreas

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis, which is a medical emergency
• Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required

• Blood sugar going too low, especially when combined with other diabetes medicines

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Sudden shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Rapid weight gain or severe swelling, suggesting fluid retention or heart failure
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, indicating liver problems
• Chest pain
• Blood in urine or pain while passing urine, which may indicate bladder problems
• Unusual bone fractures

How to Use PIOZ 15MG TABLET (PIOGLITAZONE 15MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as diabetes needs ongoing control
• Keep taking other prescribed diabetes medicines, diet, and exercise routines alongside this

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, tell your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to pioglitazone or any of its ingredients
• Have heart failure or a history of heart failure
• Have active bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer
• Have severe liver disease

• Have any heart problems, including past heart attacks
• Have liver disease or abnormal liver tests
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
