This combination medicine is prescribed to treat bacterial infections that are resistant to cefpodoxime alone.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and pneumonia
• Ear, nose and throat infections such as sinusitis and tonsillitis
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Some infections after surgery, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, causing them to die
• Clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that some bacteria use to destroy cefpodoxime
• Together they work against a broader range of bacteria than cefpodoxime alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections like common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever reducer
• Preventing infections without a doctor's advice

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

How to Use PODOXIM CV TABLET (CEFPODOXIME 200MG + CLAVULANIC ACID 125MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Take at evenly spaced times each day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Do not take more or less than prescribed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• If a reconstituted suspension form is used, check the label for how long it stays usable after mixing, and discard the rest

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
