Pramipexole is used to treat conditions related to low dopamine activity in the brain, most commonly Parkinson's disease and Restless Legs Syndrome.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating symptoms of Parkinson's disease such as stiffness, slowness of movement and tremors
• Treating moderate to severe Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)
• Can be used alone or along with other Parkinson's medicines like levodopa

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on dopamine receptors in the brain, mimicking the natural chemical dopamine
• This helps improve control of movement in Parkinson's disease
• In RLS, it helps reduce the uncomfortable urge to move the legs, especially at night

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Try to take it at the same time(s) each day for best effect
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms
• Your doctor may adjust the dose gradually, so do not change it on your own
