Uses and Benefits of PUNOX TABLET (PRULIFLOXACIN 600MG)
Prulifloxacin 600mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, especially those affecting the urinary tract and respiratory system.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
- Certain respiratory tract infections
- Some gastrointestinal infections caused by bacteria
HOW IT WORKS
- It is a prodrug that gets converted into its active form in the body
- The active form blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA
- This stops bacterial growth and eventually kills the bacteria
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold or flu
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever medicine
- Preventing infections without a doctor's advice
This medicine should only be used for the specific bacterial infection diagnosed by your doctor. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can lead to antibiotic resistance, making future infections harder to treat.
