Uses and Benefits of RAMISTAR H 10MG TABLET (RAMIPRIL 10 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG)

This medicine is used mainly to treat high blood pressure that is not adequately controlled by a single medicine alone.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Management of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Used when a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medicines is needed for better control

HOW IT WORKS

• Ramipril blocks an enzyme (ACE) that narrows blood vessels, helping vessels relax and lowering blood pressure
• Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, reducing blood volume and pressure
• Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for emergency treatment of very high blood pressure crisis
• Not a first-choice treatment for mild, newly diagnosed hypertension without prior evaluation
• Not used to treat infections, pain, or fever
• Not recommended for use in pregnancy

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Low blood pressure symptoms, such as feeling faint on standing up
• Changes in blood sugar or uric acid levels
• Skin rash or itching

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (angioedema)
• Severe dizziness, fainting, or very low blood pressure
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Signs of high potassium, such as irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness
• Signs of kidney problems, such as reduced urination or swelling in legs
• Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling

How to Use RAMISTAR H 10MG TABLET (RAMIPRIL 10 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day
• Can be taken with or without food, but be consistent with your chosen method
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Avoid taking it late in the evening as it may increase night-time urination
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well
• Continue taking it regularly, as this medicine controls but does not cure high blood pressure

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the medicine in its original packaging
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have had swelling reactions (angioedema) to ACE inhibitors before
• Have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis
• Are allergic to ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide medicines, or any ingredient in this tablet
• Have severe liver disease

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have diabetes
• Have gout or high uric acid levels
• Have low blood pressure or are prone to dehydration
• Have had recent heart surgery or a heart attack
• Are taking potassium supplements or salt substitutes

• Other blood pressure-lowering medicines
