Simvastatin 10 mg is prescribed for people with high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, and to reduce the risk of heart disease.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high cholesterol (LDL, total cholesterol) and triglycerides
• Increasing good cholesterol (HDL) to some extent
• Reducing risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in people at risk
• Managing cholesterol along with diet and lifestyle changes

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in the liver that is needed to make cholesterol
• This lowers the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver
• Helps the body remove cholesterol already present in the blood

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a painkiller or immediate treatment for chest pain
• Not used to treat acute heart attack or stroke

• Severe stomach pain

How to Use SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET (SIMVASTATIN 10 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the evening
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Avoid large quantities of grapefruit juice while on this medicine
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as cholesterol control needs continued treatment
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
