Uses and Benefits of STARCAD SA 5MG TABLET (AMLODIPINE 5MG + METOPROLOL SUCCINATE 25MG)
This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure and to manage chest pain (angina) in people whose condition needs two medicines working together.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Managing angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)
- Sometimes used together to give better blood pressure control than either medicine alone
HOW IT WORKS
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and lowering blood pressure
- Metoprolol succinate blocks certain stress hormone effects on the heart, slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of each heartbeat
- Together they reduce the heart's workload and help control blood pressure more effectively
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for treating sudden chest pain attacks (it is a preventive, not emergency, treatment)
- Not a cure for high blood pressure — it only controls it while taken regularly
- Not recommended for children unless specifically advised by a doctor
- Not to be used for conditions unrelated to heart or blood pressure without medical advice
