Uses and Benefits of SUPRIMOX KID TABLET (AMOXYCILLIN)
Amoxycillin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to it.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, tonsillitis and bronchitis
- Ear infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Dental infections
- Some stomach infections, often combined with other medicines
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to the penicillin group of antibiotics
- It stops bacteria from forming their protective cell wall
- Without a proper cell wall, the bacteria burst and die
- This helps clear the infection and reduce symptoms like fever and pain
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as cold, flu or most sore throats
- Preventing infections that are not bacterial in nature
- Self-treatment without a doctor's advice, as wrong use can cause resistance
- Long-term pain relief, as it has no pain-relieving action of its own

How to Use SUPRIMOX KID TABLET (AMOXYCILLIN)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
- Can be taken with or without food, but taking with food may reduce stomach upset
- Swallow tablets or capsules with a glass of water
- Shake the syrup well before measuring the dose with the measuring cup or spoon provided
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
- Try to take doses at evenly spaced times through the day
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the syrup in the refrigerator if advised on the label, but do not freeze
- Keep out of reach of children
- Discard any unused reconstituted syrup after the period mentioned on the label

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to amoxycillin, penicillin or related antibiotics
- Have had a severe allergic reaction to any penicillin-type medicine in the past
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney disease
- Have a history of allergies or asthma
- Have had glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis)
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Have a history of stomach or bowel problems, including antibiotic-related diarrhoea
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Methotrexate
- Oral contraceptive pills (may reduce effectiveness)
- Blood thinners such as warfarin
- Probenecid
- Other antibiotics, unless advised together by your doctor
