WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and sinusitis
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Typhoid fever caused by susceptible bacteria

HOW IT WORKS

• Cefixime kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective outer wall
• Clavulanic acid blocks certain bacterial enzymes that would otherwise destroy cefixime
• Together they widen the range of bacteria the medicine can act against

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• Preventing infection without a confirmed or suspected bacterial cause
• Self-medication without medical advice, as inappropriate use increases antibiotic resistance

• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and duration advised
• It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Try to take doses at the same time each day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• If a reconstituted suspension form is used, check the label for how long it can be stored after mixing, usually refrigerated and used within a limited number of days
• Do not use the medicine after its expiry date

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
