Uses and Benefits of TEGMA M FORTE TABLET (TENELIGLIPTIN 20MG + METFORMIN 1000MG)

This combination medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, usually when diet, exercise, and metformin alone are not enough to control blood sugar.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet and exercise for better blood sugar control
• Sometimes combined with other diabetes medicines as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Teneligliptin increases levels of natural hormones (incretins) that help the pancreas release more insulin after meals
• Teneligliptin also reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver
• Metformin decreases sugar production in the liver and increases sensitivity of muscles to insulin
• Together they help lower blood sugar more effectively than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis (a medical emergency)
• Not a treatment for weight loss, though some people may lose weight while using it
• Not suitable for children

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of lactic acidosis: unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, severe tiredness, stomach pain, feeling cold
• Signs of severe low blood sugar: cold sweat, confusion, shaking, fainting
• Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash
• Signs of pancreatitis: severe stomach pain spreading to the back, vomiting
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Take at the same time(s) each day for best results
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as diabetes needs long-term control
• Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, tell your doctor

• Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to teneligliptin, metformin, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have severe kidney disease
• Have severe liver disease
• Have a history of diabetic ketoacidosis or type 1 diabetes
• Have a condition causing low oxygen or severe dehydration
• Are going to have surgery or an X-ray with contrast dye soon (inform your doctor)
