Montelukast 10mg is prescribed mainly for long-term control of asthma and for relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Long-term prevention and control of asthma symptoms
• Prevention of exercise-induced breathing difficulty

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the action of leukotrienes, substances in the body that cause airway swelling, tightening, and excess mucus

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, which may indicate liver problems
• Tingling or numbness in arms or legs, or worsening breathing symptoms with rash (possible sign of a rare condition called Churg-Strauss syndrome)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the evening
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Continue taking it regularly even when you feel well, as it works best when used consistently
• Do not use it to relieve a sudden asthma attack; keep your rescue inhaler for that purpose

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light, and moisture
• Keep the tablet in its original packaging until use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
