Uses and Benefits of TELISTA D TABLET (TELMISARTAN 40 MG + INDAPAMIDE 1.5 MG)

This medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), especially when a single medicine is not enough to control it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of high blood pressure
• Used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by telmisartan or indapamide alone
• Long-term management to reduce risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Telmisartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which relaxes and widens blood vessels
• Indapamide is a mild diuretic that helps the body get rid of extra salt and water through urine
• Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for emergency treatment of sudden very high blood pressure
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used to treat infections
• Not recommended for use in pregnancy
• Not a first-choice medicine for children

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Headache

• Muscle cramps
• Nausea or upset stomach
• Dry mouth
• Skin rash or itching
• Changes in blood salt levels (like low potassium or sodium) seen on blood tests

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Severe dizziness or fainting
• Very irregular heartbeat
• Signs of severe low sodium such as confusion, severe weakness, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Severe skin reactions such as blistering or peeling

How to Use TELISTA D TABLET (TELMISARTAN 40 MG + INDAPAMIDE 1.5 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop taking it suddenly even if you feel well, as blood pressure can rise again
• Keep taking it regularly for it to work properly

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
• Keep the tablets in their original packaging until use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have severe kidney or liver disease
• Have severe difficulty passing urine
• Are allergic to telmisartan, indapamide, sulfonamide medicines, or any ingredient in this tablet
• Have very low potassium or sodium levels

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have diabetes
• Have gout or high uric acid levels
• Have liver or kidney problems
• Are on a low-salt diet
• Are elderly or have heart disease
• Are taking any other blood pressure medicines or diuretics

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other blood pressure lowering medicines or diuretics
• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• Lithium
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
• Medicines for diabetes (may need dose adjustment)
• Certain heart rhythm medicines
