This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure, especially when a single blood-pressure-lowering medicine is not enough to control it.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems in people at high cardiovascular risk
- Supporting long-term blood pressure control as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Telmisartan blocks the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to narrow
- Ramipril blocks the enzyme that produces angiotensin II, further relaxing blood vessels
- Together they widen blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and reduce strain on the heart
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller or fever reducer
- It is not used for sudden, severe rise in blood pressure needing emergency treatment
- It is not a treatment for infections
- It should not be used to treat blood pressure in pregnancy

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Dry, persistent cough
- Tiredness or weakness
- Headache
- Low blood pressure symptoms like feeling faint on standing
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Muscle cramps
- Back pain
- Changes in kidney function tests
- Skin rash or itching
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (angioedema)
- Severe dizziness or fainting
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Very little or no urine output
- Signs of high potassium such as irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or tingling
- Severe, persistent vomiting or diarrhoea

How to Use TELISTA RM TABLET (TELMISARTAN 40 MG + RAMIPRIL 5 MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water, with or without food, at the same time each day
- Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist says it is safe to do so
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs consistent use
- Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original pack until it is time to take the tablet
- Keep out of reach and sight of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

This is a prescription-only medicine in India and should be used only under the supervision of a registered doctor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy, or are breastfeeding
- Have a known allergy to telmisartan, ramipril, or other ACE inhibitors/ARBs
- Have a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB use
- Are taking or have recently taken aliskiren, especially if you have diabetes or kidney disease
- Have severe kidney or liver disease, without your doctor's specific guidance
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney disease or are on dialysis
- Have liver disease
- Have diabetes, especially if on insulin or other blood-sugar medicines
- Have heart valve problems or narrowing of arteries
- Are on a low-salt diet or take potassium supplements
- Are elderly or dehydrated
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other blood pressure medicines, including diuretics
- Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
- Lithium
- NSAIDs (pain relievers like ibuprofen, diclofenac) used regularly
- Other ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or aliskiren
- Diabetes medicines
