Uses and Benefits of TELMA AMH 40MG (TELMISARTAN + AMLODIPINE + HYDROCHLORTHIAZIDE)
This combination medicine is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), especially when it is not controlled well enough by using one or two blood pressure medicines alone.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of high blood pressure
- Reducing risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems linked to uncontrolled blood pressure
- Used as add-on therapy when single or dual medicines are not enough
HOW IT WORKS
- Telmisartan blocks a hormone (angiotensin II) that narrows blood vessels, helping them relax
- Amlodipine relaxes blood vessel walls by blocking calcium entry into muscle cells
- Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water, reducing blood volume
- Together these three actions lower blood pressure more effectively than one medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for emergency or sudden severe rise in blood pressure
- Not a treatment for chest pain (angina) alone
- Not meant for use in pregnancy or for children
- Not a cure for hypertension; it only controls blood pressure while taken regularly
