Uses and Benefits of TGR 160MG TABLET (Fenofibrate 160mg)
Fenofibrate 160mg is prescribed to manage abnormal blood fat (lipid) levels, especially high triglycerides and low HDL (good cholesterol), often along with high LDL (bad cholesterol).
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating high triglyceride levels in the blood
- Managing mixed dyslipidaemia (high cholesterol and triglycerides together)
- Reducing risk of pancreatitis caused by very high triglycerides
- Used along with diet control, exercise and weight management
HOW IT WORKS
- Activates a receptor called PPAR-alpha in the liver
- Increases breakdown of fat particles carrying triglycerides
- Increases HDL (good cholesterol) production
- Reduces the amount of fat circulating in the blood
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of chest pain or heart attack
- Not a treatment for high blood pressure
- Not used for weight loss on its own
- Not a substitute for diet and lifestyle changes

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Stomach upset or indigestion
- Nausea
- Headache
- Diarrhoea or loose stools
- Mild muscle pain
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Skin rash or itching
- Dizziness
- Changes in liver enzyme levels
- Reduced sex drive
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe muscle pain, tenderness or weakness (sign of muscle breakdown)
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (sign of liver problem)
- Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back (possible pancreatitis)
- Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Severe skin peeling or blistering

How to Use TGR 160MG TABLET (Fenofibrate 160mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Take with a meal, as food improves absorption
- Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as it works silently on blood fat levels
- Do not stop without talking to your doctor
- Keep taking a healthy diet and staying active alongside the medicine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- If you frequently miss doses, tell your doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have severe kidney disease
- Have active liver disease
- Have gallbladder disease
- Are allergic to fenofibrate or any of its ingredients
- Are breastfeeding, unless advised by your doctor

- Statins (increased risk of muscle problems)
- Blood thinners like warfarin (may increase bleeding risk)
- Other lipid-lowering drugs
- Cyclosporine and other medicines affecting the kidney
- Oral diabetes medicines
