This combination medicine is used to treat high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and to help lower the risk of heart disease.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Lowering high LDL (bad) cholesterol and total cholesterol
- Lowering triglyceride levels
- Raising HDL (good) cholesterol
- Reducing risk of heart attack and stroke in people with high cholesterol or heart disease risk
HOW IT WORKS
- Atorvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that produces cholesterol
- Ezetimibe blocks absorption of cholesterol from food and bile in the intestine
- Together they lower cholesterol through two different pathways for better control
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller or treatment for chest pain during an acute heart attack
- It does not treat infections
- It is not a weight-loss medicine
- It is not meant for occasional or one-time use; it is a long-term maintenance medicine

- Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe rash
- Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back (possible pancreas problem)
- Unusual weakness or tingling in hands and feet

How to Use TONACT 20 EZ TABLET (ATORVASTATIN 20MG + EZETIMIBE 10MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- It is commonly taken in the evening or at bedtime, but follow your doctor's instructions
- Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, since cholesterol control needs long-term treatment
- Get cholesterol and liver function tests done as advised by your doctor to monitor progress
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

- Grapefruit juice in large amounts
