This combination medicine is used to treat high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and to help lower the risk of heart disease.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high LDL (bad) cholesterol and total cholesterol
• Lowering triglyceride levels
• Raising HDL (good) cholesterol
• Reducing risk of heart attack and stroke in people with high cholesterol or heart disease risk

HOW IT WORKS

• Atorvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that produces cholesterol
• Ezetimibe blocks absorption of cholesterol from food and bile in the intestine
• Together they lower cholesterol through two different pathways for better control

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller or treatment for chest pain during an acute heart attack
• It does not treat infections
• It is not a weight-loss medicine

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe stomach pain (signs of liver problems)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe rash
• Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back (possible pancreas problem)
• Unusual weakness or tingling in hands and feet

How to Use TONACT 20 EZ TABLET (ATORVASTATIN 20MG + EZETIMIBE 10MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• It is commonly taken in the evening or at bedtime, but follow your doctor's instructions
• Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, since cholesterol control needs long-term treatment

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
