Uses and Benefits of TOR 5MG TABLET (Torsemide 5mg)
Torsemide 5mg is mainly prescribed to treat fluid retention (oedema) and high blood pressure.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Swelling of legs, ankles or abdomen due to heart failure
- Fluid buildup caused by liver disease (cirrhosis)
- Fluid retention linked to kidney disease
- Management of high blood pressure, often along with other medicines
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts on the kidneys to increase the removal of excess salt and water from the body through urine
- This reduces the amount of fluid in blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and easing swelling
- Less fluid load on the heart helps it pump more efficiently
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or fever
- It does not cure the underlying heart, liver or kidney disease; it only manages fluid symptoms
- It should not be used for weight loss or general detox purposes
- It is not meant for occasional or one-time use without medical supervision

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

- Signs of severe dehydration such as extreme thirst, very little urine, confusion
- Irregular heartbeat or palpitations
- Severe muscle weakness or cramps (may indicate low potassium or sodium)
- Hearing changes or ringing in the ears
- Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, or dark urine (signs of liver problems)

How to Use TOR 5MG TABLET (Torsemide 5mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day in the morning
- Can be taken with or without food, but try to be consistent
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
- Avoid taking it in the evening as it may cause frequent urination at night
- Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is already close to your next dose or evening time, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the strip or bottle tightly closed
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

- Are in hepatic coma or pre-coma due to liver disease, unless specifically directed by a specialist
