Torsemide 10mg is mainly prescribed to treat fluid retention (edema) and high blood pressure.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Swelling of legs, feet, or abdomen due to heart failure
• Fluid retention caused by liver disease or kidney disease
• High blood pressure, alone or with other medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on the kidneys to increase removal of excess salt and water from the body
• This reduces the amount of fluid in blood vessels, lowering swelling and blood pressure
• It helps ease breathlessness and swelling linked to fluid overload

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or fever
• It is not used for weight loss in people without fluid retention
• It does not treat infections and should not be used for cough or cold
• It is not a first-choice medicine for mild, uncomplicated hypertension without fluid issues

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Increased urination

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning

• Try to take it at the same time each day for best results
• Avoid taking it late in the evening as it may cause frequent urination at night
