This medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with other treatments.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used along with diet and exercise for better glucose control
• Used when a single diabetes medicine is not enough

HOW IT WORKS

• Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin
• Pioglitazone improves the body's sensitivity to insulin, especially in muscle and fat tissue
• Metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and improves insulin use by the body
• Together they help lower blood sugar through three different mechanisms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes

• Signs of very low blood sugar such as excessive sweating, shakiness, confusion, or fainting
• Unexplained muscle pain, weakness, or cramping with tiredness (possible lactic acidosis)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, or chest pain (possible heart problems)
• Severe allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling of face/throat
• Blood in urine or new bladder-related symptoms

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not skip meals after taking this medicine, as it can cause low blood sugar
• Take it at the same time(s) each day for consistent blood sugar control
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well; diabetes needs long-term management
• Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Have severe kidney or liver disease
• Have heart failure or a history of heart failure
• Are allergic to glimepiride, pioglitazone, metformin, or related medicines
• Have active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in urine

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have any kidney, liver, or heart problems
