Uses and Benefits of TRILOSAR 12.5MG TABLET (Losartan 50mg + Amlodipine 5mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5mg)
This medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to control it.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of high blood pressure
- Reducing risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney damage caused by uncontrolled blood pressure
- Used when blood pressure is not controlled by a single blood pressure medicine
HOW IT WORKS
- Losartan blocks a chemical (angiotensin II) that tightens blood vessels, helping vessels relax
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls
- Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering blood volume
- Together they lower blood pressure through three different actions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not used to treat infections
