This medicine is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to control it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Long-term control of high blood pressure
• Reducing risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney damage caused by uncontrolled blood pressure
• Used when blood pressure is not controlled by a single blood pressure medicine

HOW IT WORKS

• Losartan blocks a chemical (angiotensin II) that tightens blood vessels, helping vessels relax
• Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls
• Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering blood volume
• Together they lower blood pressure through three different actions

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for immediate emergency lowering of dangerously high blood pressure
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used to treat infections
• Not recommended for use during pregnancy

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Try to take it at the same time every day for best effect
• It can be taken with or without food
• Continue taking it even if you feel well, as blood pressure conditions often have no symptoms
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
