Uses and Benefits of TRIPINOM TABLET (OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 20 MG + AMLODIPINE 5 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG)
This medicine combination is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who need more than one medicine to keep their blood pressure under control.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of high blood pressure
- Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough
- Helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure
HOW IT WORKS
- Olmesartan blocks a hormone (angiotensin II) that narrows blood vessels, helping them relax
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering fluid volume in the blood
- Together, these three actions lower blood pressure more effectively than one medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for immediate relief of a sudden severe rise in blood pressure (hypertensive emergency)
- Not used to treat chest pain (angina) as a first-choice medicine
- Not a treatment for heart failure on its own
- Not for use in pregnancy or for children
