Ursodeoxycholic acid is mainly used to treat gallstones made of cholesterol and certain long-term liver diseases where bile does not flow normally.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Dissolving small cholesterol gallstones in patients not suitable for surgery
- Treating primary biliary cholangitis, a chronic liver disease
- Managing liver problems caused by poor bile flow
- Sometimes used to prevent gallstones during rapid weight loss, as advised by doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Reduces the amount of cholesterol released by the liver into bile
- Lowers cholesterol levels in bile, helping dissolve existing stones
- Protects liver cells from damage caused by toxic bile acids
- Improves bile flow in the liver
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for pigment or calcified gallstones
- Not a treatment for acute gallbladder attacks or infections
- Not used for general digestive upset or acidity
- Not a substitute for surgery when gallbladder removal is required

How to Use UDILIV 600MG TABLET (URSODEOXYCHOLIC ACID (600MG))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food or milk
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- Do not crush or chew unless your doctor tells you to
- Continue for as long as prescribed, even if you feel well, since gallstone dissolving takes months
- Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If you miss doses often, tell your doctor as it may affect treatment success
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have inflamed gallbladder or bile duct blockage
- Have frequent biliary colic (severe gallbladder pain episodes)

- Are allergic to ursodeoxycholic acid or bile acid medicines

- Have any liver disease other than the one being treated
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
