Flavoxate 200 mg is prescribed to relieve uncomfortable urinary symptoms caused by inflammation or spasm of the urinary tract.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of painful or difficult urination (dysuria)
• Relief of urgency to urinate
• Relief of frequent urination
• Relief of night-time urination (nocturia)
• Relief of bladder discomfort or spasm linked to cystitis, prostatitis, or urethritis

HOW IT WORKS

• It relaxes the smooth muscle of the bladder and urinary tract
• This reduces spasm and eases the urge to urinate frequently
• It has a direct calming effect on the muscle rather than treating infection

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat urinary tract infections directly and is not an antibiotic
• It is not used for kidney stones or blockage of urine flow
• It does not cure underlying prostate enlargement or bladder cancer

HOW TO TAKE IT

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have glaucoma that is not being treated
