Uses and Benefits of VALKEM OD 500MG TABLET (Divalproex 500mg)

Divalproex 500mg is mainly used to treat epilepsy (seizure disorders), manic episodes of bipolar disorder, and for preventing migraine headaches.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling different types of seizures in epilepsy
• Treating manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder
• Preventing migraine headaches

HOW IT WORKS

• It increases levels of a calming chemical called GABA in the brain
• It helps stabilise abnormal electrical activity that causes seizures
• It helps balance mood-related brain activity in bipolar disorder

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller for treating an ongoing migraine attack
• It is not used for general anxiety or everyday stress
• It is not a first-choice medicine during pregnancy due to risk to the baby

How to Use VALKEM OD 500MG TABLET (Divalproex 500mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Take with food to reduce stomach upset
• Do not stop taking suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can trigger seizures
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
