Sodium Valproate is mainly used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and to manage certain mood disorders.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling different types of seizures in epilepsy
• Preventing manic episodes in bipolar disorder
• Sometimes used for prevention of migraine headaches, as advised by a specialist

HOW IT WORKS

• It increases the activity of a calming brain chemical called GABA

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take with food to reduce stomach upset
• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, even if you feel better, without consulting your doctor, as it may trigger seizures
