Sodium Valproate is mainly used to treat epilepsy and certain mental health conditions where mood stabilisation is needed.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling different types of seizures (fits) in epilepsy
• Preventing seizures from recurring over long-term use
• Treating episodes of mania in bipolar disorder
• Sometimes used for migraine prevention as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It increases the levels of a calming brain chemical called GABA
• It stabilises overactive electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures

HOW TO TAKE IT
