Uses and Benefits of VAS GTN 6.4MG TABLET (NITROGLYCERIN 6.4MG)
Nitroglycerin is used mainly to prevent and reduce episodes of angina (chest pain) in people with coronary artery disease.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Prevention of angina (chest pain) attacks
- Long-term management of coronary artery disease along with other heart medicines
- Reducing the frequency of angina episodes
HOW IT WORKS
- Relaxes and widens (dilates) blood vessels, including coronary arteries
- Reduces the workload on the heart by lowering the amount of blood returning to it
- Improves oxygen supply to the heart muscle, easing chest pain
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used to treat a sudden, ongoing heart attack on its own
- Not a substitute for fast-acting sublingual nitroglycerin used during an acute angina attack
- Not used for high blood pressure as a first-choice treatment
- Not meant for pain unrelated to the heart, such as muscle or bone pain
This medicine is usually part of a long-term treatment plan and should be taken regularly as directed, not only when chest pain occurs.
