This medicine combination is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, along with proper diet and exercise.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Used when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control sugar
• Used when metformin alone does not control blood sugar adequately
• Sometimes used along with other diabetes medicines as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Vildagliptin increases the levels of natural hormones that boost insulin release after food
• It also lowers the amount of sugar released by the liver
• Metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin
• Metformin also slows down sugar absorption from the intestine

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis, an emergency condition
• Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required

• Signs of low blood sugar such as shakiness, sweating, confusion or fainting
• Severe stomach pain, vomiting, fast breathing, or unusual tiredness (possible lactic acidosis)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (possible liver problem)
• Severe skin reaction, blistering, or swelling of face and throat
• Persistent muscle pain or cramps

How to Use VIDAGLO-M 50/1000MG TABLET (VILDAGLIPTIN 50MG + METFORMIN 1000MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not change the dose on your own
• Continue diet and exercise recommended by your doctor along with this medicine
• Get your blood sugar and kidney function checked regularly as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
• If you miss doses often, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Keep below 30 degrees Celsius unless the label says otherwise
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to vildagliptin, metformin, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have severe kidney disease
• Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Have severe liver disease
• Have a history of lactic acidosis
• Have a serious heart, lung, or infection-related condition causing low oxygen levels

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have any kidney or liver problems
• Are going to have surgery or an X-ray procedure using contrast dye
• Drink alcohol regularly
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
• Have a history of pancreatitis or heart failure
