• Preventing or treating pulmonary embolism (clots in the lungs)
• Preventing clots in people with artificial heart valves
• Preventing clots after certain surgeries as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Warfarin blocks vitamin K-dependent clotting factors made by the liver
• This slows down the blood's ability to form clots
• It does not dissolve existing clots but prevents new ones from forming or growing

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Avoid sudden changes in diet, especially foods high in vitamin K like leafy greens, without telling your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day

• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
