Uses and Benefits of WELTELMI-20 Tablets (Weltelmi 20mg)
This composition is mainly used to treat high blood pressure and to reduce cardiovascular risk in certain patients.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, or heart-related death in people with existing cardiovascular disease who cannot take ACE inhibitors
- Supporting kidney protection in some patients with diabetes and high blood pressure, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks the action of a hormone called angiotensin II that narrows blood vessels
- Relaxes and widens blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily
- Lowers the pressure the heart needs to work against, reducing overall blood pressure
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for treating sudden, severe (emergency) high blood pressure
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not used for treating infections
- Not recommended during pregnancy for blood pressure control

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Back pain
- Sinus congestion or upper respiratory symptoms
- Fatigue or tiredness
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Diarrhoea or stomach upset
- Muscle cramps or pain
- Nausea
- Low blood pressure symptoms like light-headedness on standing
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
- Signs of very low blood pressure such as fainting or severe dizziness
- Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling of legs
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (possible liver problem)
- Very high potassium levels causing irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or tingling

How to Use WELTELMI-20 Tablets (Weltelmi 20mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Take it at the same time every day to help you remember
- Continue taking it even if you feel well, as blood pressure control usually needs long-term treatment
- Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original pack until it is time to take it
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
- Are breastfeeding
- Have a known allergy to Telmisartan or any ingredient in the tablet
- Have severe liver disease with bile duct blockage
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney disease or are on dialysis
- Have liver problems
- Have diabetes, especially if taking medicines containing aliskiren
- Have heart valve or heart muscle problems
- Are on a low-salt diet or have low blood volume
- Are elderly or have low blood pressure tendencies
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other blood pressure medicines, including ACE inhibitors and aliskiren-containing drugs
- Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen used regularly
- Lithium
- Certain diuretics (water pills)
