Uses and Benefits of WINBP-AM20 TABLET (OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 20MG + AMLODIPINE 5MG)

This composition is mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), especially when a single medicine is not enough to control it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of high blood pressure
• Reducing risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to long-term high blood pressure
• Used when treatment with one blood pressure medicine alone does not give adequate control

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks angiotensin II, a chemical that narrows blood vessels, helping vessels relax
• Amlodipine blocks calcium entry into blood vessel walls, causing them to widen
• Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for emergency treatment of a sudden severe rise in blood pressure
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used for chest pain relief during an acute attack
• Not recommended for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Swelling of ankles or feet
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Tiredness or fatigue
• Flushing (warmth or redness of skin)

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea
• Muscle cramps
• Palpitations
• Diarrhoea
• Low blood pressure symptoms like light-headedness on standing

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe dizziness or fainting
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Severe stomach pain, bloating, diarrhoea with significant weight loss
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Very slow or irregular heartbeat
• Chest pain

How to Use WINBP-AM20 TABLET (OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 20MG + AMLODIPINE 5MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop taking it suddenly even if you feel well, as blood pressure may rise again
• Continue regular blood pressure checks as advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Are allergic to olmesartan, amlodipine, or other similar blood pressure medicines
• Have severe liver disease with bile flow blockage
• Are in a state of very low blood pressure or shock

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney disease
• Have liver disease
• Have diabetes
• Have a history of heart failure or heart valve problems
• Are on a salt-restricted or potassium-restricted diet
• Are taking any other blood pressure lowering medicines

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other blood pressure medicines, including diuretics
• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
• Lithium
• Certain antifungal or antibiotic medicines
• Simvastatin (may need dose adjustment)
