Ofloxacin 600mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Infections of the prostate gland
- Certain sexually transmitted infections
- Infections of the abdomen when combined with other antibiotics
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics
- It blocks bacterial enzymes needed for DNA replication and repair
- This stops bacteria from multiplying and eventually kills them
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not work against viral infections like cold, flu or COVID-19
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat fever alone
- It should not be used for infections it is not prescribed for, as this can lead to resistance
- It is not recommended for routine or minor infections that can be treated with safer antibiotics

- Numbness, tingling or weakness in hands or feet
- Severe skin reactions such as blistering or peeling skin
- Irregular heartbeat or palpitations

How to Use ZANOCIN OD 600MG TABLET (OFLOXACIN 600MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
- Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water
- It can be taken with or without food, but try to be consistent
- Do not take with antacids, calcium, iron or zinc supplements at the same time; leave a gap of a few hours
- Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to ofloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
- Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolones
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor
- Are below 18 years of age, unless prescribed for a specific approved condition
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have epilepsy or a history of seizures
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have a heart rhythm problem or are on medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Have diabetes
- Have myasthenia gravis
- Are elderly, as risk of tendon damage is higher

- Antacids, calcium, iron or zinc supplements
- Blood thinners like warfarin
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Oral diabetes medicines or insulin
