Uses and Benefits of ZEDOTT 30 DT Tablets (Racecadotril 30mg)

Racecadotril 30mg is commonly prescribed for the treatment of acute diarrhoea.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Sudden onset (acute) diarrhoea in adults and children
• Used along with oral rehydration solution (ORS) to prevent dehydration
• Sometimes used for diarrhoea caused by infections, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It reduces the excessive secretion of water and salts into the intestine
• It does not slow down the movement of the gut, so normal digestion continues
• This helps reduce the volume and frequency of watery stools

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for chronic (long-term) diarrhoea without medical evaluation
• It does not treat the underlying cause of infection, such as bacteria or parasites
• It is not a substitute for rehydration therapy
• It should not be used for diarrhoea caused by antibiotics without consulting a doctor

How to Use ZEDOTT 30 DT Tablets (Racecadotril 30mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with water
• Can be taken with or without food
• Continue drinking oral rehydration solution along with this medicine
• Do not take more than the prescribed dose or for longer than advised, even if diarrhoea continues
• If prescribed for a child, use the exact strength and form recommended by the doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Discard any unused medicine as per local guidelines
