Uses and Benefits of ZORYL-M 3 TABLET (GLIMEPRIDE 3 MG + METFORMIN 500 MG)
This combination medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
- Used along with diet and exercise for better blood sugar control
- Sometimes combined with other diabetes medicines as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin
- Metformin reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver
- Metformin also helps body cells use insulin more effectively
- Together they lower blood sugar through two different actions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis, a medical emergency
- Not a substitute for insulin in situations where insulin is required
- Not used for weight loss without medical supervision

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea or stomach upset
- Loss of appetite
- Metallic taste in mouth
- Mild low blood sugar (hunger, sweating, shakiness)
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash or itching
- Weight changes
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe low blood sugar with confusion, fainting, or seizures
- Signs of lactic acidosis: unusual tiredness, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, stomach pain
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash
- Dark urine or unusual bleeding/bruising

How to Use ZORYL-M 3 TABLET (GLIMEPRIDE 3 MG + METFORMIN 500 MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Usually taken with breakfast or the first main meal of the day to reduce stomach upset and low blood sugar risk
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not skip meals after taking this medicine
- Continue diet and exercise advice given by your doctor
- Do not change the dose on your own
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember with food
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- If you often miss doses, tell your doctor

- Store at room temperature, away from heat and moisture
- Keep in the original pack, away from direct sunlight
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to glimepiride, metformin, or sulfonylurea medicines
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney or liver disease
- Have severe infection, dehydration, or are having major surgery
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised by your doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney, liver, or heart problems
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Are elderly or have a history of low blood sugar episodes
- Are scheduled for surgery or an X-ray with contrast dye
- Have any vitamin B12 deficiency or anaemia
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other diabetes medicines or insulin
- Steroids and certain blood pressure medicines
- NSAID painkillers like ibuprofen
- Alcohol
- Certain antibiotics and antifungal medicines
- Contrast dye used in imaging tests
