Uses and Benefits of TOPAZ 50 TABLET (Topiramate 50mg)
Topiramate 50mg is mainly used to treat epilepsy and to prevent migraine attacks.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Control of certain types of seizures (fits) in adults and children
- Used alone or with other anti-seizure medicines
- Prevention of migraine headaches in people with frequent attacks
HOW IT WORKS
- It calms overactive electrical activity in the brain
- It stabilises nerve cell membranes and balances certain brain chemicals
- This reduces the frequency and severity of seizures and migraines
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat a migraine attack that has already started
- It is not a painkiller for regular headaches
- It is not used for anxiety, depression, or sleep problems
- It should not be used to control weight, though weight loss can occur as a side effect

How to Use TOPAZ 50 TABLET (Topiramate 50mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
- Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew
- Can be taken with or without food
- Drink plenty of water during the day to reduce risk of kidney stones
- Do not stop suddenly without your doctor's advice, as this can trigger seizures
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- If you miss doses often, discuss a reminder plan with your doctor
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight
- Keep in the original pack, out of reach of children
- Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack
