Topiramate 50mg is mainly used to treat epilepsy and to prevent migraine attacks.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of certain types of seizures (fits) in adults and children
• Used alone or with other anti-seizure medicines
• Prevention of migraine headaches in people with frequent attacks

HOW IT WORKS

• It calms overactive electrical activity in the brain
• It stabilises nerve cell membranes and balances certain brain chemicals
• This reduces the frequency and severity of seizures and migraines

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat a migraine attack that has already started
• It is not a painkiller for regular headaches
• It is not used for anxiety, depression, or sleep problems
• It should not be used to control weight, though weight loss can occur as a side effect

How to Use TOPIROL 50MG TABLET (TOPIRAMATE 50MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
• Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew
• Can be taken with or without food
• Drink plenty of water during the day to reduce risk of kidney stones
• Do not stop suddenly without your doctor's advice, as this can trigger seizures

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, discuss a reminder plan with your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight
• Keep in the original pack, out of reach of children
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack
