Entacapone 200mg is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, a condition affecting movement and muscle control.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• To reduce end-of-dose wearing-off symptoms in Parkinson's disease
• Used together with levodopa and carbidopa, never alone
• Helps improve mobility and reduce stiffness fluctuations during the day

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks an enzyme called COMT that breaks down levodopa
• This allows more levodopa to reach the brain and stay active longer
• Leads to more consistent control of Parkinson's symptoms throughout the day

How to Use ADCAPONE TABLET (ENTACAPONE 200MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually alongside each dose of levodopa/carbidopa
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can worsen Parkinson's symptoms

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it with your next scheduled dose of levodopa/carbidopa
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
• If you miss several doses, contact your doctor for guidance

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the tablets in their original packaging

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to entacapone or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have severe liver disease
• Have a rare tumour called pheochromocytoma

• Have any liver or kidney problems
• Have low blood pressure or fainting spells
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding

• Other levodopa-containing medicines
• MAO inhibitors used for depression
• Certain antidepressants
• Medicines affecting liver enzymes
• Iron supplements (may reduce absorption, so take at a different time)
