This combination medicine is mainly used to treat tuberculosis (TB), a bacterial infection that most commonly affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis
• Treatment of certain forms of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, as advised by your doctor
• Used as part of a combination anti-TB treatment regimen, along with other medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• Rifampicin blocks an enzyme that TB bacteria need to make RNA, stopping their growth
• Isoniazid stops the bacteria from building their cell wall, killing the bacteria
• Together they act on different stages of bacterial growth, making treatment more effective and reducing chances of drug resistance

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for viral infections like cold, flu, or COVID-19
• Not used for ordinary bacterial infections such as urinary or throat infections
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine

How to Use AKURIT KID TABLET (RIFAMPICIN 60 MG + ISONIAZID 30 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Best taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Take it at the same time every day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better; stopping early can cause the infection to return or become drug-resistant
• Do not skip doses, as irregular use increases risk of treatment failure

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
• If you miss several doses, inform your doctor promptly

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original container, tightly closed

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
