Itraconazole is used to treat infections caused by fungi affecting different parts of the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Fungal infections of the skin such as ringworm
- Fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis)
- Fungal infections in the mouth and throat (oral thrush)
- Vaginal fungal infections
- Certain serious fungal infections of the lungs and other internal organs
- Fungal infections in people with weakened immunity, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Itraconazole belongs to a group of medicines called triazole antifungals
- It blocks an enzyme that fungi need to build their cell membrane
- This weakens the fungal cell wall and stops the fungus from growing and spreading
- Over time, this clears the infection
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat bacterial infections
- It does not treat viral infections such as cold, flu, or herpes
- It should not be used for infections that have not been confirmed as fungal
- It is not a painkiller or a general antibiotic

How to Use ALCROS SB 50MG CAPSULE (ITRACONAZOLE 50MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with a full meal to help absorption
- Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush it
- Continue the full course even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor tells you to stop
- Do not take antacids at the same time; leave a gap of a few hours if you need one
- Follow the exact duration prescribed, as fungal infections often need longer treatment
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
